Contract: Full Time / Two Year Fixed Term Contract - Monday to Thursday, 08:30am – 5pm & Friday, 08:30 – 13:30 (35 hours p/w). Hybrid working pattern.

What the opportunity looks like:
The Trainee Legal Counsel will be responsible for assisting the rest of the legal team with all corporate governance and commercial legal needs of the business.
- Provide advice, guidance and training with special regard to compliance matters within the regulations and controls which govern the manufacturing, marketing and sale of Scotch Whisky.
- Support the rest of the legal team on implementing, maintaining and enhancing day-to-day compliance and governance within the business, particularly with regards GDPR/data privacy.
- Provide guidance and support to the business to ensure implementation of legal best practice.
- Provide legal support and general advice to all functions of the business including Brand Teams, Sales, Production, Finance and Logistics.
- With support, negotiate, draft and review a variety of commercial contracts for key projects across the business including international distributorship, UK trading, supply, bottling, marketing services, consultancy and service agreements.
Skills and experience that will help you be a success:
For this role we're looking for:
- LLB in Scots Law from a provider accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.
- Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
- Strong legal knowledge across range of commercial topics.
- Ability to provide a view, take responsibility and ownership of issues, including an ability to take difficult decisions and provide substantiated arguments.
- Ability to provide practical legal advice and support with a high degree of professionalism in a fast-paced environment and to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels.
- Candidates must have right to work in the UK.
