What the opportunity looks like:
Ensure Environmental Compliance across the company. Reporting and engaging with Environment Agency, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, liaising with the Scotch Whisky Association. Owning the Green Print and ensuring delivery of our commitments in the areas of Agriculture & Biodiversity, Carbon Neutral, Water Stewardship, Zero Waste to Landfill & Packaging Regulation Compliance and building into Our Community activities, internally and externally.
Environmental Compliance: to ensure compliance to all regulatory licences for Water, Land and Air for both the UK Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. To control the system for the licences and their compliance with incident reporting and auditing of the system. Ensure compliance to Packaging Regulations for our global markets, reporting and updating company on adherence.
Licences to Operate: Reporting of information for Energy, Water and Packaging for adherence for the licences. Link in licences and reporting to key stakeholders, eg Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial and Marketing departments. Owner of the Climate Change Agreements and Levies (CCA & CCL), Waste Reporting, Extended Packaging Responsibility.
Reporting & Decision Making: Information for Monthly Reporting for Distilling Leadership Team and Supply Chain Leadership Team. Quarterly for Exec and Treasury for updates on Environment Compliance and Sustainability. Yearly for Corporate Reporting and Scotch Whisky Association.
Prosperity & Cost Efficiency Analyse & Act on data from Distilling for efficiencies of Grain (Malted Barley & Wheat), Fuels for Steam, Electricity and Water. Show opportunities of saving money from all utilities using data analysis, benchmarking and Root Cause Analysis and key in delivering improvement projects. Working with Finance and Procurement recording all credits from Energy, Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs), Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) credits.
Winning Through Partnerships: Working with Procurement and Finance with Operations on key partnerships across all areas of the Green Print: Energy, Water, Agriculture, Packaging and Waste. Developing gains from partnerships from Green Gas, Green Biomass, Green Electricity and for Distilling sites working with the local Estates (Invergordon - Wyvis, Dalmore - Novar, Fettercairn - Fasque, Jura – Ardfin & Inver, Tamnavulin - Crown).
Innovation & Sustainability as a Driving Force : Long term thinking with 2030 and 2040 Green Print ambition goals. Horizon scanning with Engineering, Operations and Procurement for new opportunities and technologies. Continue to develop the Award-winning programmes and continue to nurture and improve.

Skills and experience that will help you be a success:
For this role we're looking for:
Degree‑level education or equivalent professional experience. Science or Engineering qualifications preferred.
A strong professional Environmental Compliance Knowledge.
Excellent understanding of Environmental Compliance.
Knowledge of Environmental Regulations for UK and Scotland.
In-depth understanding of Regulatory Frameworks and demonstrating compliance.
Awareness of distilling operations, raw‑material processes and energy and water systems, and the ability to drive to benchmark targets and realise business and planetary benefits.
Engineering knowledge of processes and technologies to improve performance for Distilling & Supply Chain Environmental and Sustainability performance.
Highly analytical with the ability to interpret Raw Material, Energy and Water data, assess financial risks, analyse variances and develop accurate forecasts.
Strong understanding of Raw Material, Energy and Water cost structures, cost drivers and commercial modelling.
Ability to support Operations, Procurement & Finance with forecasting and budget performance tracking.
Organised, methodical and able to manage multiple priorities within a fast‑moving operational environment.
Strong commercial judgement with resilience, professionalism and the ability to challenge constructively.
Valid driving licence (regular Distillery, Grangemouth, SVP Head Office and Supplier visits).
